How to Protect Your Jewelry During a Move
Are you getting ready to move?
The last thing that you want to happen is to open a box after a long day of moving, only to find that your jewelry is damaged. At Teresa Rodriguez Designs, we not only offer beautiful and unique handmade jewelry, we also want to help you enjoy it for years to come. That’s why we’ve come up with this list of tips to help you keep your jewelry safe during your move:
#1. Keep it with you.
Don’t just throw your jewelry in a box and leave it for the movers! This is a good way to get your jewelry lost or stolen. If you are moving locally, you could keep your jewelry safe in a safety deposit box at your bank. If you are moving long distance, be sure to pack your jewelry in your own personal bag so that it doesn’t end up with the rest of your stuff.
#2. Take an inventory.
With so much confusion and commotion going on during your move, it is all too easy to end up with jewelry that has been stolen or lost. Take an inventory of all of your jewelry before you pack it. It is also a good idea to indicate which box you stored the jewelry in.
#3. Get it insured.
If you have fine jewelry that is valuable, it doesn’t hurt to get it insured. In order to get a good idea about how much you should insure the jewelry for, you should have it appraised.
